I have asked this last year and was given a solution but I forget this year. I have lettuce growing in a fishbox and a few days ago I noticed a sticky white spit on the base of the plant, kind of like the cuckcoo spit you sometimes see. But today as I was rinsing them outside I noticed little bugs coming out of the spit and it was yuck cos I have lots of lettuce with that on it. How do i get rid of it and what is it? I also noticed it on my strawberry plants too.

First result using our site search with the words Cuckoo spit (top right of screen)
Cuckoo spit - Philaenus spumarius - Sap sucking nymphs.
