Irishgardeners.com site usage and posting rules.

The rules in bold are the ones which members happen to forget about quite often. Sad
Please heed them.

1 [a] Please refrain from making multiple member registrations, this will be closely monitored as it is often a topic adopted by spammers.
There is to be absolutely....

1 [b ] No spamming, (postings used to advertise products, businesses, websites, and often to broadcast political or social commentary.
If any of your posts in the forums contains anything like this they will be deleted and you will be given a warning or banned.
We don't pay hosting simply to act as a billboard to everybody and anybody.
If you wish to advertise on this site then visit this page which outlines our offers.......
Promotion and sponsorship opportunities on the site.

1 [c] New posters whose initial posts contain direct links to other websites may have those links removed at the moderators discretion. Other members interested in the links may PM the poster to be enlightened as to the link.

1 [d] No flaming, (posting deliberately hostile messages)

1 [e] No posting of any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory.

1 [f] No posting of any material which is invasive of a person's privacy.

1 [g] No posting of messages which are abusive, vulgar, sexually oriented, hateful, harassing, obscene, or threatening.

no posting of any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this forum.

By registering, you the user agree that you will not post messages containing any of the above elements.

2 [a] Use a maximum of one link per signature only.
Absolutely no affiliate links in signature.
We do not allow any signature using Tiny URL or Snip URL (or any similar) services which converts a lengthy link (URL) into a very tiny one.
Only useful links i.e. no under-construction sites, spam services etc.
Signatures should be very basic and should not have the appearance of an ad.
In the interest of all members please keep your signature politics and religion free.
No signature links to Warez, porn, hate sites, or other questionable content.
You can of course place a link to your personal website or blog in your signature.

2 [b ] If you have a link to your website or blog in your signature, there will be no need to place the same or similar link within a post as well.
Irishgardeners.com reserves the right to ban signatures which are felt to be provocative, disruptive, or outside of our guidelines.

3/ Use a maximum 1 graphic per signature.
Please avoid using big graphics that break up the flow of a page and also avoid excessively animated graphics.

4/ Please do not post the same post in multiple threads.

5/ All usernames must start with a letter or number.
Usernames must not contain domains names or resemble email addresses.
Do not use a variation of an existing username e.g. registering 'Thin Lizzy 1' when 'Thin Lizzy' is already an existing username.

6/ Please avoid double posting of queries/comments and the bumping of threads.

7/ Please keep one word replies to an absolute minimum.
Please avoid posting your phone number on the forums. There are a lot of cranks out there who may take offense at what you have to say, then decide to ring you at 3 o'clock in the morning. You have been warned.

8 [a] All members should post in a way which is consistent with "normal writing".
That is, users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or coloured text, etc.
Similarly users should not SHOUT (type in capitals) or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts.

8 Chatspeak is NOT allowed (e.g. i wan dat, plz fone me).
The use of expletives (bad language) is frowned upon. We aim to encourage children in gardening so we aim to keep this forum as child-friendly as possible
Users consistently abusing chatspeak or expletives will be warned and have their posts edited.

9/ Please do not flood the board with posts just to build up post count or hammer home a point (deemed as spamming).
Give others a chance to get a word in.
Don't make other new members feel left out, instead make them feel welcomed.
In this way the Irish gardeners will grow in knowledge together.

10/ In the interest of all members do not discuss politics or religion.
It is okay to talk about religon if your religon is gardening. Wink
Avatars and signatures should also be religon/belief free.

11 [a] Members should try to use an appropriate, descriptive title when posting a new topic. [/b]
This helps others find your topic, allowing you to receive replies.
For example, do not use titles like "Help please" or that perennial favourite "Question?"

11 [b ] Members should try to post in the appropriate section of the site. [/b]
Please post your question in the appropriate section.
A tree query in the "Irish Trees & other trees grown in Ireland" section, a glasshouse topic in the "Irelands Garden tools / equipment. (mowers, glasshouses & polytunnels etc)" section, and so on.
This helps others find your topic, allowing you to receive replies.
If in doubt as to where your post should go you can PM the moderator or drop a line to info@irishgardeners.com

11 [c ] Starting a thread by link to a video hosted elsewhere eg. youtube does not constitute discussion.
This is the Irish gardeners forum, and being Ireland many of our readers have slow internet speeds. This means that there will be some unable to view such a video.
We have no problems with you linking to a suitable video, however, it should be accompanied by a brief outline of its contents
If you post it, you must be prepared to discuss it.

If the photo you are posting does not fall into category (a), (b) or (c), do not post the photo.

15/ These forum rules are subject to change without prior warning.
If you miss a new rule you will be informed via Private Message should you break it.

If you are unsure about any of the above rules then Private Message the administrator or moderators for assistance.
Failure to follow the rules may result in 2 official warnings followed by banning, or at times will result in an immediate banning.
All rules will be strictly enforced.

Finally have fun, "Irish Gardeners".
Don't be afraid to ask or answer questions, in this way we will all expand our gardening knowledge.
