Hi

I'm just wondering if anyone has gone through all the hoops? I'm trying to set up a small number of allotments in our back field. I now have 4 really interested individuals (3 from Landshare) and I hope to fence off enough space for 8 to 10 plots.

This isn't really a profit making venture - it's just I have the space and want to share a bit of that. The setting is nice and I have one family amongst my keen new gardeners.

It seems I need planning permission for a change of use from agricultural land to allotments. (£200 I think!) Also there's also the cost of fencing etc. So it still won't be that cheap for people here.

Maybe someone out there has experience of all this?

PS I'm near Ballygowan, Co. Down. N.Ireland.

I did.

He's very busy right now & apparently has loads of folk ringing with questions. So he charges a consultancy fee for giving advice on setting up allotments! Which I can understand, but .....

... well I guess I want to see how far I can get without having to make everything too expensive!
