Thanks for responding Mark , however I really am looking for more precise answers to my question "What is your dream garden " . eg Your main interest is Bats . I have never seen a live bat in my life , I would love to know how to encourage them to live here , is there anything I can do to attract them, Laughing all I've got are robins . ( Embarassed Bad joke ) Really the point I am making is everyone has different ideas about garden design and I would like to get some idea of "what is a dream garden"

Whats the first? Rolling Eyes Laughing Is it a clamper. Laughing

Back on topic..... I love an informal style with lots of flowing curves and lot of different shades of green. I'm not a fan of the stainless steel and coloured glass modern styles.

Now, now boys calm down, us women are here too.

I like colour for all seasons. Few if any conifers (needle-like leaves, often evergreen). I quite like the japanese style with bamboo and such. Also water features are a must.

For me its an adapted cottage garden style.
This allows me to cram as many plants in as possible and not worry too much about colour clashes.
My cottage garden style would include as many shrubs as perennials unlike the traditional cottage garden.
Sample plants include Buddleia, Rosa rugosa, Pittosporum, Stags horn, lilac, crab apple, Sedum, Crocosmia, Phlox etc.
These are all in my new front garden.
Pictures of the planting and progress to feature on IG in the coming weeks.
