One of my favourite house plants is this jade plant a.k.a the money plant. It might not be the best looking house plant there is, but it needs little attention. You can water it whenever you think of it, and just cut it back when it gets top heavy. i have this plant now for 7 years and its about 2 and a half feet tall.

It looks great. I have one that is about 12 - 18 months old and is getting very leggy. How do you cut them back and when?

Hi there Green fingers I don't know when the appropriate time is to prune this plant back, but i just cut off the side shoots which gives it a bonsai look, and prune/cut the top branches off at random whenever it needs it. Apparently, this plant thrives on neglect, but i do water and feed it on a regularly basis and i also leave it outside during the summer months. A word of warning, make sure the pot is good and heavy as this plant can become very top heavy when pruned to look like a bonsai. Hope this is of some help.

Thanks for the advice. Due to the plant being top heavy, it toppled over on me the other day. Hence the urgency to get it pruned.
