Dear Friends, Could anyone know if there is an allotment anywhere in the portarlington area that I could join or if not would anyone know if there is a farmer who would offer me a small corner of land to start growing veg

it is worth trying putting a notice on supermarket notice board for use of private enclosed garden where the owner would give the allotment for a nominal sum in exchange for some produce and you have a secure plot as well. best of luck

Hi Tom,

There was a post on this section at the beginning of April where somone near portlaoise was offering allotments ready to go. Perhaps you could look back to page 2 of this section to 02 apr 09 and I think its there entitled 'allotments, portlaoise, stradbally co. laois, 1/4 to 1/6 acre' Don't know if thats any help to you.
