Certainly looked the part, the bulbs are huge compared to normal garlic, quite pungent smelling too. I planted some along with the usual garlic, time will tell if they are viable.

I got some Elephant Garlic in Lidl the other day, with a view to planting it. Has anyone tried growing this variety?

I bought a few bulbs of it and planted, nothing showing yet, then again nothing from the regular garlic planted at the same time either, time will tell. Nothing ventured nothing gained I suppose!
My ground thermometer is showing the soil about 4C at 10cm deep so anything growing is going to be very slow if at all.

I guess I'll just go ahead and plant them and see how they do. The garlic I planted in November is doing nicely.
