This is not strictly garden related, but as a piece of Scots /Irish social history I think will be of interest to those Irish gardeners who have Sky TV or live close enough to the north to receive BBC2 Northern Ireland

Here Come the Tattie Howkers
Looking at the Irish potato pickers who used to come to Scotland for the harvest each year

Thanks for that, will pop it in the reminder.
I always manage to only catch the end of shows like that and end up gutted. |

Great find stooriefit.
There are not enough of these programs being shown on telly.
I think people would honestly prefer to watch this kind of programming instead of trashy American sitcoms.
Does anyone remember an RTE series called 'Hands'? A great Irish made programme detailing the crafts of Irish people from days gone by.It would be great if it was rerun. |

Thanks boys ,thought you would be interested.
Had a wee check and it is not being shown on BBC2 NI at the same time ,but it is
bound to be in the schedule at some time.
It will almost certainly be put on the BBC Scotland website as a podcast so anybody who cannot access it on tv can see it there.
