Went to visit my Irish friends who live in Mallorca a few weeks ago. I am a regular visitor to the island and i must say its a fantastic place in february, its a fantastic place any time of year. The island is steeped in history and culture. But this year for the first time i got to see loads of tortoises in my friends garden, i was amazed to see how many there was. They told me their dogs play with them, pick them up and stuff, drop them and even eat them if they manage to get them out of the shell. I was picking them up and putting them into the next field, but that probably wasn't the right thing to do either, the poor tortoises would end up miles away "in tortoise miles that is" even though it was just over the fence. wish i had them in my Irish garden, or even better again, move my garden to Mallorca. Hope ye like the picture...!!

There's nothing they can do, there at work all day. But if its any consolation to ya they don't manage to eat that many as you probably know the tortoise is well equipped in protecting itself. If you look at the shell on that picture you can see the top part has been damaged before.

Tough devil that tortoise. Looks like he needs some filler for the dent in the shell though. Thanks for the picture and story.
