Gosh, what a lucky find this is! I am living in the Torr area. I am a carer and recluse by circumstance, a phillosopher and poet by trade. I'm an avid gardening enthusiast, inherited from my parents. It is very windy and wet here and my house is not yet properly insulated, so damp and cold make starting seedlings a bit more difficult. Also, the fairy are determined to take the place back, but I am hoping to make peace with them by growing trees they approve of. Any suggestions would be welcome! I am delighted to meet you all, and after reading many of your introductory postings, I am delighted to find the site.

Torr head is the closest point to Scotland along the North Coast (12 miles). Torr is the little valley behind, with a burn running through the middle which has nature reserve status. It is very lovely. Just inland there are a number of hills and valleys that are inaccessable by road (unusual these days) and beyond that, about 4 miles in is the vicinity of the "vanishing lake". The coast road allong here leads to Ballycastle in one direction and Cushendun in the other. There is only one road, which has no bus service, but the postman makes it up here OK.
