Hi
I was hoping to get some advice on planting a hedge behind a retaining wall - there is about 2-3 feet of topsoil behind the wall. We want the hedge to obscure an unsightly stone bank which was left after the excavation work from building the house
We would like a variety that won't discolour the house (hedge will be 3 - 4 metres from the house. If it grows reasonably quickly and has pretty, pleasant smelling flowers (not too strong) that would be a bonus.
Also, it will be about 40m long so something not too expensive is desirable.
Am I looking for too much? |

I was really impressed with the hedge on page 2 of this thread. It is called leycesteria
formosa and I like it so much I have just bought 30 plants to form a hedge. I got them fro the UK at £2.99 each and it cost £15 for postage. They are quite small, but well rooted and strong. It looks perfect and I had never heard of it until I saw it here. If you want to do green and gold alternatively, the gold cost £3.99. Its worth a try! |
