How are things?

My name is Mac & I have just moved to Co.Roscommon from Dublin. I'm originally from Longford - So the good country life is nothing new to me!

Its great to be back Smile

I really love the idea of being able to grow your own Veg.

I'm not really very experienced. But I have plenty of elbow grease at my disposal. I've been very "lucky" so far.. and everything has grown well for us.

We've had a single small raised bed for the last few years in Dublin. We got to grow some lettuce, cucumber and herbs. Even tried growing tomatoes & considering that they got attacked by the frost a few times, they produced a decent little crop. The Strawberries died however! R.I.P.

Now I've got 2 huge gardens - Front & back. My intention is to cut down on the grasscutting around the back by making an area with raised veg beds, a few fruit bushes and also some Apple trees. Next year I hope to have a Greenhouse.

Its North facing.. But Its a really sunny spot, gets sun all day long. We're lucky that none of the houses here overshadow us at all. The shadow from our own house does not hit it either. Our garden in Dublin was like Newgrange - got very little Sun.. apart from a little "Brazillian" strip right down at the end.

Guess the builders down here aren't as greedy as the ones in Dublin! Very Happy

Anyway.. It would be a crime to waste the potential of this beautiful garden.

I've got a few questions that I intend to ask in the forums. I'd really appreciate some pointers & advice.

And... from looking around these pages, there is certainly no lack of good advice here.

Take it easy,

Mac
