Hello people,
First post here. Gardening nut from Donegal, Its nice to find a site where our passion for the soil can be shared. I hope I can be of assistance to anybody out there.
My garden is about 1 mile from the shores of Lough Swilly, on an elavated site
with one bed that gets everything thrown at it, and two sheltered borders with woodland close by. The soil is acid and ranges from poor / sandy in one border to fertile well drained silty soil in the other one. The garden is only about three years old and I'm mad into experimenting with plants.
Cheers, Doctor Robert. |

Nice to meet you Docter Robert. You will be just the man to advise on plants for a windy area so. What is surviving in your garden will be a good yardstick. |

Hi there. Sounds like a great location, you should put up a few photos.
Are you the Doctor Robert that the Beatles used to sing about..... |

Good to meet someone else in the profession. I'd say a lot of experimenting is needed with a site whose conditions are as varied as that. |

Nice to make your acquaintenance, Docter. What I wouldn't give to have your 'gardening problems' and that wind blowing at you all the way from Nova Scotia, with nary a drop of Nitrogen Dioxide or any other pollutant in it. And there's meself downwind [well most of the time] of the M25. I've a cousin just bought into Dunree so I'll be along to taste the air one of the days. Look after yourself. _________________ Education is what's left when you've forgotten all you were taught |
