I received this from my husband's Irish Grandmother a couple of weeks ago, she brought it back to the US years ago as a start and gave it to me because she moved into an assisted living home and could not bring it.
She is 88 years old and cannot remember what it is or how to take care of it. I got it almost two weeks ago and it was perfectly green and now some of the leaves near the bottom are turning brown. Please help me figure out what it is, I would hate to kill it.

Could it be Lonicera Nitida? I can't be sure but it looks very like it. If it is, it grows fairly vigorously and needs constant trimming.
Do you want to keep it in a pot? It might be happier in the ground, except of course I don't know where you are writing from, and what sort of winters you have!
Good luck with it.
Does anyone else recognize this plant? Am I correct? |

Spot on I reckon Sive.
Lonicera nitida (poor mans box / honeysuckle hedge)
Commonly planted in old Irish gardens as a hedging plant. Mrs Barrans, if a plant is in a pot and is turning brown, the first thing I would check is has it enough regular watering. _________________ Q. What is the best soil for growing plants?
A. Your soil. |
