I'm just wondering if anyone has grown a fig tree/bush in Ireland with any success. I've got one in a container which is supposed to suit them but it went a big black at the tips and last year the fruits dropped off before they were ripe....any ideas?
Thanks, Maria _________________ Growing fruit in containers - www.potsoffruit.com |

Hi there,
I know of a few fig trees that are all growing against south facing sheltered walls and the fruits ripen.
One of the trees is actually growing through a green house which is
falling apart around it! It's about 15/20 feet high but it would have started life inside the intact green house.
These trees are also in Dublin or in walled gardens.

Most well grown Figs I have seen were wall grown.

I know they are quite fussy in the fruit forming stage and any fluctuations in their care can bring about the loss of a crop.
Missed or underwatering perhaps? _________________ Remember, a weed is just a plant in the wrong place.
