Hello to you all,
I have been invited to join your Forum although I live in the South of England.I enjoy allotment gardening very much, fruit and vegetables being the main produce I grow but on my plot I do have lots of flowers to and a couple of Kent Cob nut trees.
My late husand John and I have been working our plot of 25 rods for the last 16 years and I am now continueing on my own hoping I can keep up his high standards.
I also have my own web site.
I may not be able to participate regularly with you but will pop back from time to time as I am sure there is a great deal we can learn from each other and look forward to some lively debates.
My Best Wishes to you all
Beryl.

| Welcome Beryl to irish gardeners. Is the Kent cob nut like a type of hazel nut? |

Hello to you all - thank you for your welcome.
Yes, The Kent cob is a Hazel nut - larger than the hazel you find it wild.
Mind you I have yet to sample any of mine. The past 2 years someone has got to them first. Definately the 2 legged variety but I won't go into that any more.
This year the nuts are forming well and I should have a good crop.
I planted the trees because I have very fond childhood memories when we would go picking them locally. Dad would choose the best and they would be stored in a large tin buried in the garden for Christmas. We did this with the Chestnuts to.
