i was repotting a strawberry plant recently, with the intention of giving it to a friend, and found a dozen or so larvae in the soil of the pot.
unfortunately, i don't have a photo of them (about a centimetre long, cream, with reddish heads), but was wondering if there is an online resource for identification of these things?
i picked them out of the soil and disposed of them, as i don't want to pass what may be a harmful pest on to a friend, but am curious as to whether i may have killed something which was actually helpful... |

medieval knievel you did the right thing, as it sounds like they were vine weevil.
A bit more information here Vine weevil
It would be worth your while applying a chemical or biological control for these, if more are present.
Over the next month or so I am going to put together a batch of articles on our local garden pests, a version of your online source for pest identification.
Keep an eye out for it.
An example of what I am talking about....... wireworm and slugs on potatoes.
