Can you grow bananas from seed?, just eat one and I take is the small brown 'bits' inside are the seed?

The small brown 'bits' inside are undeveloped seeds, as the bananas we buy in the shops are from infertile banana plants.
I believe these type of banana plants are propagated by root division not seed.

My sister has a banana plant in her conservatory. I find it hard to believe when she says to me that someday it will produce bananas. Decoration only I tell her.
