A friend who was moving had a 10 year twin trunked oak tree that was not thriving. It was between 2 large sycamore trees. I offered to give it a new home in my garden. It was transplanted in Oct 2006. Unfortunately only one of the trunks grew new leaves this season. The other does not have a single green leaf.
Is the bare trunk dead or could it still recover next year. |

Follow the handy tips listed there. If nothing leaflike appears on the bare trunk next spring, I think you should remove that trunk. I don't think twin trunks on oak trees look particularly well anyway, so it may be for the better. |
